Disc publishers are multipurpose duplicators, built with
a robotic arm device, tasks both recording and printing at the same time
with a minimal or no human intervention required. The innovative robotic
loading takes a disc from blank media to a finished disc. When the front
cover of the device is opened, discs are loaded to input bin and a robotic
arm will move them to the burner tray. The tray ejects the disc when data
burning is finished, then the robotic arm transfer disc to another tray
to begin printing process. When printing is finished, the robotic arm
will again, transfer the printed disc to an output bin.
The disc duplication capacity ranges from 20 to 200 discs per session.
Publishers could be operating as a standalone machine with the built-in
hard drive or it could work through the connection with computers. Publishers
can also be interfaced with USB 2.0. High burn speeds and advanced to
burn discs up to the maximum burn speeds for recordable media.
The quality and speed of disc printing will mostly depend on various factors
such as the settings of different modes, the artwork itself, and the speed
of the operating system. The use of thermal or inkjet printing will take
a large portion of the disc printing cost. Thermal printing will have
a higher price point because of its forte of printing quality, providing
vivid photographic quality image printed on the disc.
